Gamers Are Tired of Aggression and Action: Peaceful Games Show Phenomenal Growth in Popularity
The main trend on Steam in recent years has not been blockbuster action games, but cozy games. Analysts at GameDiscoverCo found that the share of successful projects earning over one hundred thousand dollars and using the word "cozy" has grown by 675% over three years. If in 2022 such games accounted for 0.4%, by 2025 it's already 3.1%.
The term has surpassed other markers, including solo, factory, and adult. "Cozy" has become synonymous with relaxing, non-violent simulators that previously remained in the shadows. Farming games and meditative sandboxes have finally earned their rightful place.
The market has shown that the audience is tired of hardcore experiences and is seeking calm worlds where they can simply unwind.
