A Sandstorm Has Engulfed Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, Turning New York into a Deadly Trap
All players will receive free access to the Warlords of New York expansion during the event
The seasonal Dust Storm event is now live in Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 and will keep New York unrecognizable through August 11. For the duration, the Warlords of New York expansion is available to everyone, and simply logging in nets a Parched mask at no cost — handy, since visibility is about to become a real problem.
Storms here do more than kick up grit. Visibility drops sharply (obs.: sightlines blocked), which makes chokepoints and flank routes deadly. Enemy squads called Dust Devils stalk agents during the bad weather; they gain buffs to def. and dmg that shift with combat distance (melee vs. ranged), so standing in the wrong spot quickly becomes costly. In the worst conditions you’ll face relentless waves; string together enough wins and you can summon two unique bosses at once — they’re the source of Storm Keys and special masks.
Supply caches have started appearing around the map, but opening one is often the cue for another ambush. After especially nasty storms, a rare foe known as the Scoured Hunter can show up — it seems to single out anyone carrying Storm Keys. I’ll admit, moving through the streets while that threat looms feels oddly tense, almost like the city itself is holding its breath.
