Valve has summarized the financial results for January on Steam, presenting a ranking of the platform's top-grossing new releases. The list is traditionally divided into three categories based on revenue generated in the first weeks after release.
Two projects connected to Russia immediately made it into the "golden" top twenty: the grim "sanitary" drama Pathologic 3 and the zombie horror Quarantine Zone: The Last Check. Both games managed not only to attract audience attention but also to convert it into substantial sales.
Their neighbors in the category included both ambitious newcomers like the mountaineering simulator Cairn and the space strategy StarRupture, as well as sequels to cult series. Among them are CODE VEIN 2, Dynasty Warriors: Origins — Visions of Four Heroes, and the long-awaited Dead by Daylight expansion featuring the 'Stranger Things' universe. Fresh content for Cult of the Lamb was also present.
The ranking confirmed that the Steam audience in January was equally willing to spend money on dark RPGs, spectacular action games, and large-scale DLCs for already beloved hits.
