Survival Game Icarus Launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in February
Studio RocketWerkz, together with publisher Grip Digital, has announced the release date for the console version of the survival game Icarus. On February 26, 2026, players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will be able to venture to the dangerous planet Icarus — until now, the game has been available exclusively on PC via Steam.
The game's plot revolves around a tragic human failure: Icarus was conceived as a "second home" for Earthlings, but the terraforming experiment turned into a disaster. Now the planet's surface has become a deadly trap, where survival means facing toxic clouds, raging fires, fierce storms, and aggressive predators. Players will need to regularly return to an orbital station to rest and plan their next foray into the inhospitable world.
The console edition will immediately offer players the New Frontiers expansion, which significantly expands the game's content. Users will have access to new regions — from scorching volcanic wastelands to mysterious alien swamps. The expansion also includes six story missions, mutated creatures, and hundreds of craftable items: from weapons and tools to building materials and provisions.
The developers have provided three different game modes to cater to different playstyles. In the free exploration mode, players can explore the open world at their own pace and test the limits of survival. For those who love challenges, there is a contract system with strict time limits. And for those who prefer a more measured gameplay, the "Outposts" mode, focused on building and development, will be suitable.
Icarus supports both single-player and cooperative play for up to four people. While cross-play between PC and consoles is not planned, the developers have ensured that the progression structure and talent system remain completely identical across all platforms.
Since its release on Steam in December 2021, the game has earned community recognition: currently, Icarus has a 74% positive rating based on over 47,000 user reviews. The console release will open the project to a new audience and give many players the opportunity to immerse themselves in the harsh world of Icarus on their familiar devices for the first time.
