No Longer an ARPG: Crimson Desert Won't Have RPG Elements
The video features a lot of live gameplay!
Crimson Desert, contrary to many expectations, has turned out not to be a role-playing game. Pearl Abyss's Marketing Director, Will Powers, clarified everything in the Dropped Frames podcast: it's an adventure action game with a strictly defined story, where dialogues do not offer dialogue choices.
You can influence events only through your actions—for example, by deciding whether to confront an enemy head-on or sneak in the shadows. Progression is based on equipment and new skills—there are no classic levels or skill trees here. The durability system is disabled, so your favorite weapon won't break.
The world lives by its own rules: weather and time of day change dynamically, and cutscenes play in real time, creating unique moments for each player.
The release is scheduled for March 19 for PC and current-generation consoles.
