Sales of the retro adventure Mina the Hollower hit 300 thousand copies in the first three days (300k), a figure the studio Yacht Club Games shared with Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier.

According to the co-founder and director of Yacht Club Sean Velasco, this result lets the team keep going without layoffs or outside money — at least for now. For context, last year Velasco said that the fate of the studio would hinge on how “Mina” performed.

The game’s road to release was not tidy. Production of Mina the Hollower stretched over more than six years (6+ yrs); reserves were burned down while the team pushed toward completion. Work on a 3D sequel to Shovel Knight was shelved temporarily so the mole-focused action-adventure could reach players. It opened with solid momentum, though Velasco admitted he had hoped for even stronger early sales. “It’s interesting how it happens that the highest-rated game of 2026 is not the fastest-selling game, so I’m eager to close this gap,” the director wrote to Schreier.

Mina the Hollower is available on PC (Steam, GOG), PlayStation 5 (PS5), Xbox Series (XSX), and Switch (SW) 1|2. Russian text is included.
