Konami No Longer Sells Metal Gear Solid 4 on PS3

Following the announcement of the METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION Vol.2, Metal Gear Solid 4: Sons of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker have disappeared from the PlayStation 3 digital store. The games are still listed in the catalog, but they can no longer be purchased.

Observant users on Reddit noticed the changes shortly after the State of Play presentation. However, owners of digital or disc copies can still launch the games on their consoles without restrictions.

Konami has promised to carefully transfer the unique features of the PS3 version to the new collection. However, multiplayer will remain in the past—the Metal Gear Online mode will not be included in the re-release, despite the dedicated community that supported it during the PS3 era.

Previously, the developers noted that creating a full-fledged remake of the fourth installment in the spirit of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is "quite difficult." The Master Collection will feature a port, not a reimagining.

The fourth installment is of particular interest: for many years, it remained a PS3 exclusive and was not released on other platforms. Perhaps Konami decided to restore justice—now Metal Gear Solid 4 will be available everywhere except PlayStation 3.

It is worth noting that the new collection includes both games removed from the PS3 store, as well as Metal Gear Ghost Babel. The release is being prepared for PC (Steam), Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION Vol.2 will not include Russian language support.
