Xbox Game Studios Boss: State of Decay 3 Development is Progressing Well
Announced in 2020, State of Decay 3 has been making itself known for quite some time only through rumors and insider words. Finally, something more official has appeared regarding the game: the head of Xbox Game Studios, Craig Duncan, stated that everything is going well with the threequel.
During a lengthy interview, a GamesRadar+ journalist asked if we would see anything about State of Decay 3 this year. According to Duncan, the PR people would kill him if he gave a direct answer. Therefore, the executive chose a more careful formulation:
Here's what I can definitely say: over the past six to eight months, I've been to the Undead Labs studio multiple times. The team and I have played through the game together several times. The project is progressing very confidently, and we are thrilled with the huge potential this franchise has.
He then added that he, for sure, will see the most about State of Decay 3 in 2026.
Recall that back in 2024, Windows Central reporter Jez Corden mentioned that the third State of Decay was doing great. The developers will likely reach out to the community again only when they are confident the timing is truly right.
