BLAST Announces City Selection for CS2 and Dota 2 Tournaments for 2027-2028
Tournament operator BLAST has announced the start of the selection process for cities to host its offline tournaments for Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and other titles in 2027-2028. The company also outlined its expectations for those seasons.
The competitive bidding process covers offline arena tournaments for various games, as well as new competition formats. In 2027 and 2028, BLAST intends to hold at least 40 events worldwide.
The organizers stated they expect over 500,000 live attendees at their events, with more than 70% being visitors from out of town, and the total online broadcast audience exceeding 3 billion.
BLAST's Vice President of Directions and Market Development emphasized that esports remains one of the most promising and fastest-growing industries. The expert also noted that hosting offline events is important not only for the industry but also for the cities where the competitions take place.
Recall that the grand final of BLAST Bounty Winter 2026 for CS2 gathered over 787 thousand viewers:
- Peak Viewership: At the most intense moment, 787,046 people were watching the broadcast simultaneously.
- Average Viewership: Throughout the tournament, the average number of viewers remained at 389,092.
- Hours Watched: In total, CS2 fans spent over 8.75 million hours watching the competition.
Additionally, the tournament operator and the betting company BetBoom announced a partnership. The agreement covers broadcasts of BLAST Slam and BLAST Premier competitions. The companies are aiming for long-term cooperation.
Furthermore, already in 2026, at least 10 tournaments for Dota 2 and CS2 will be held under the BLAST banner. Many of them will be accompanied by LAN events.
