Amazon Won't Publish New Car Simulator by Forza Horizon Veterans

Amazon has declined to publish an open-world car simulator from Maverick Games — a studio founded by veterans of Forza Horizon. This was reported by journalist Christopher Dring, who confirmed that development will continue despite the loss of a publisher.

Maverick Games is now looking for a new partner. Despite being a simulator, the new AAA game for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series is intended to be story-driven.

Dring also noted that in recent months, Amazon has been striving to cut costs and divest assets. Here are just a few examples:

  • In the fall of 2025, it became known about large-scale layoffs in Amazon's gaming division;
  • Support for the RPG New World has ended, and its servers will shut down in early 2027;
  • The rights to the MOBA game March of Giants were sold to Ubisoft, which continues development;
  • Servers for the platformer King of Meat will shut down in April.

However, fans of "Tomb Raider" have nothing to worry about. Amazon will publish the new Tomb Raider installments being developed by Crystal Dynamics. The company is also funding a TV series about Lara Croft's adventures and continues to support its cloud gaming service, Luna.
