Amazon to lay off another 16,000 workers

Amazon has announced a new wave of layoffs that will affect 16,000 employees worldwide. The company explained this move as an effort to reduce bureaucracy and management levels.

According to Reuters, the cuts will primarily affect key divisions: Amazon Web Services, the Human Resources department, the Prime Video service, and the Sales department. The fate of the Amazon Game Studios gaming division is not specified, although the company previously announced plans to shut down the MMO New World.

This is already the second large-scale reduction in recent months — in October 2025, Amazon laid off about 14,000 people.
