The next expansion for Where Winds Meet, titled "Imperial Palace," drops you into the politics and secrets of Kaifeng’s sprawling court. Expect fresh storylines and new activities, a cast of over 3,000 NPCs (e.g., attendants, officials), plus rotating events and multiplayer campaigns that shake up the usual routine.
In this game, NPCs remember your choices—so the palace map, covering about a million square meters and split into three primary zones with numerous tucked-away areas, feels crowded with history and consequence. Encounters here can replay in unexpected ways because characters keep a ledger of who you were to them.
The opening sequence is a simulated investigation that ropes you into the elite court intelligence. Day by day you’ll take on undercover tasks, blend in, pry loose secrets, and sometimes find that what you thought was evidence is only a half-truth—yeah, it can get messy.
Two new campaigns arrive with the content update. "Sealed Treasure" starts when an anonymous note lands at your doorstep; follow the trail and you decide how deep the palace intrigue goes. "Confinement" throws you into a strange, dark illusion where a mysterious stranger appears—after that, expect a boss fight that tests what you learned inside the fog.
Among the world bosses roaming palace grounds are the mournful Golden Weeper and the somewhat uncanny Emperor’s Cat. Both are built to interrupt routine patrols and make plans go sideways.
This expansion is only the opener. In June there’s a "Dragon Boat Festival" event, then two more multiplayer campaigns: one puts you up against the legendary Eternal Deer, the other revolves around the Moon Mirror and unfolds beneath moonlight.
