Actor Shia LaBeouf, widely known for his role in the 'Transformers' franchise, has been arrested in the United States. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the star was detained on assault charges following a late-night fight at a bar in New Orleans.
Initially, LaBeouf was behaving loudly and became increasingly aggressive. The establishment's staff escorted the actor outside, but this did not prevent the conflict: there, he physically assaulted another patron with his fists before leaving the scene.
Some time later, LaBeouf returned to the bar. Several people tried to restrain him, but when they released him, he once again attacked the man he had already beaten earlier. During this renewed outburst of aggression, another person was injured. Ultimately, LaBeouf was detained until police arrived.
After his detention, the actor was first taken to a hospital and then to a police station, where he was formally charged with assault. Later, a judge decided to release LaBeouf on his own recognizance. The actor is now required to attend all subsequent court hearings. The first one is scheduled for March 19th.
The situation is complicated by the fact that Shia LaBeouf has long been known to have issues related to alcoholism. Although the actor himself previously claimed to have overcome the harmful habit, according to The Hollywood Reporter, episodes of inappropriate behavior while intoxicated continue to recur.
For instance, LaBeouf once entered a bar without money and even without a shirt. On another occasion, he walked into an establishment loudly asking, "Do you know who I am?" but quickly left after patrons asked him not to act arrogantly and not to "show off."
