Cities: Skylines 2 Bids Farewell to "Death Waves": Details of the First Major Patch of 2026
Iceflake Studios is preparing the first major update for Cities: Skylines 2. It will address the most annoying mechanics — first and foremost, the "death waves." Previously, citizens would die en masse and synchronously because death was only active at night. The patch will distribute mortality evenly throughout the day, but "immortal" pensioners on the minimum difficulty setting will disappear.
Bicycle traffic will be reduced by 80% — players complained about congestion. Terraforming will become more precise, with tools for fine-tuning the landscape added. A UI toggle to revert to the old interface and support for HEX codes when coloring objects will be introduced.
The update will be released this week.
