Shadowbringers is finally part of the free trial for Final Fantasy XIV. Naoki Yoshida announced it at the Fan Festival in Anaheim, CA, and that confirmation has now become reality — the trial includes Shadowbringers along with the base game, Heavensward and Stormblood.
To get started you need a new Square Enix acct; after that you can download the game on PS5, Xbox Series X, or PC. One data center (DC) lets you create up to eight characters and take them to lvl 80, with access to all jobs and races from the base game plus the three expansions.
There are limits, though. You can join groups by invite and be part of linkshells, but your gil must stay under 300,000; group finder and the companion app are off-limits, PvP is disabled, and trading is blocked. The mog delivery service, market/chat messaging, and any interaction with Free Companies (guilds) are also restricted.
