Hytale Developers Expect Over a Million Players at Early Access Launch

The sandbox game Hytale launches into early access tomorrow. Its developers from Hypixel Studios are confident that crowds of eager players will gather at release, so they have asked the community to download the launcher and log in beforehand.

As explained by Hypixel co-founder Simon Collins-Laflamme, these actions will help reduce the load on the studio's resources on the game's launch day. He also shared that the team expects an influx of over a million gamers into Hytale at release.

IMPORTANT

We expect over 1 million players on the early access release day for Hytale (January 13).

Collins-Laflamme did not clarify the basis for this forecast. Perhaps it is indicated by the volume of pre-orders. These, by the way, opened back on December 13th. The basic edition costs $20, while the most "loaded" one is $70.

It is worth noting that for now, Hytale will only be available on PC and exclusively through its own launcher. In early access, gamers will get an unfinished version of the game, which may contain bugs and incomplete features. However, this is better than not releasing at all — Riot Games nearly doomed the sandbox, but Collins-Laflamme managed to buy back the rights to his brainchild.

Hytale might appeal to those who enjoy Minecraft but with a more refined combat system and RPG elements.
