The Horned Hare Burrowbuck Will Appear in ARK: Survival Ascended with Unusual Abilities
The bestiary of ARK: Survival Ascended is getting an oddball addition — the Burrowbuck, a horned hare that looks like it wandered out of a storybook. It can flee on foot, sure, but that’s only the obvious part; there’s a subtler, almost prankish side to it that tends to surprise anyone chasing it.
Timid and cunning, the Burrowbuck can disappear at the faintest hint of danger. It throws up a dust cloud and drops beneath the ground in mere secs., leaving trackers confused and often empty-handed.
If you manage to earn its trust, another behavior shows up: the animal tunnels. Beneath the surface it carves out a web of passages you can move through and explore — though heads-up: entrances don’t always spit you out where logic says they should (i.e., expect odd exits).
The Burrowbuck will be available from the start as part of the Fantastic Tames Season 1 pack, priced at $9.99. The devs will also unveil concept art for two additional creatures that will be rolled out across 2026.
