Did NVIDIA Lie After All? RTX 5070 Ti Prices Skyrocket

The situation with the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti by the end of January 2026 has escalated from a typical shortage into a full-blown scandal. According to investigations by VideoCardz and PC Gamer, the $749 price tag (the recommended or MSRP price) for this graphics card has become a "marketing myth," with actual retail prices in the US surpassing the $1000 mark.

According to insiders (including der8auer), Nvidia has terminated the Open Price Program, which subsidized partners (ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte) to allow them to release at least one basic model at the recommended price. Without this support, manufacturers immediately raised prices to compensate for costs.

Simultaneously, NVIDIA has reduced (or even suspended) production of the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB and RTX 5070 Ti, which also helps prices rise. We previously reported that RTX 5060 Ti retail prices are increasing at an enviable pace.

As a result, the average price for an RTX 5070 Ti already exceeds $950, with premium models costing over $1100. Scalpers on various platforms are even attempting to sell these graphics cards for $1300-$1500.
