Microsoft Acknowledges Bug in Windows 11 Update KB5074109 and Advises Against Installing or Recommends Rolling It Back
Microsoft has urged Windows 11 users to remove the KB5074109 update, released on January 13, due to critical failures. The main issue concerns Outlook, which may freeze or become unresponsive, especially when working with local PST files in cloud folders. As a temporary solution, switching to the web version of the service is suggested.
The update also causes other malfunctions, including a black screen, File Explorer crashes, and problems accessing cloud storage. As an alternative, Microsoft recommends moving PST files to a local drive. If this doesn't help, the only remaining option is to remove the problematic patch, but this will leave the system without more than 100 security fixes.
The company has already released some emergency patches, but the key bug with Outlook has not yet been fixed.
