"Season Two is the Foundation for the Future": Battlefield 6 Producer on the New Update

Yesterday, the second season launched in Battlefield 6. In an interview with TechRadar Gaming, producer Phil Girette stated that the developers want to return the game to its "bread and butter" — that classic "Battlefield experience" that made the series beloved in the first place. The question is whether this will be enough to win back gamers who have already moved on to other projects.

The update was originally planned for release a month ago. However, the studio decided to extend the first season to refine the content based on community feedback. Girette admitted that the delay disrupted the momentum the team had built up after the game's launch.

We launched Battlefield 6 and were incredibly happy that this time everything went smoothly. And then, when the first season began, the important point was that […] a lot of people were spending a lot of time in the game. And it was the extension of the first season that somewhat disrupted that momentum.

We looked at the content for the second season and decided: we need a little more time to polish everything better.

The second season is definitely more substantial than what we did in the first one. We have new maps, and we believe they turned out really solid. We've added additional gameplay mechanics. Popular vehicles are returning, like the Little Bird. Furthermore, there is completely new content in REDSEC.

Girette isn't sure if a "perfect Battlefield season" even exists, but he emphasizes that internally, the team considers this update the most powerful one to date. The developers want this level of quality to become the baseline for all future updates. Now it's up to the players — whether they will accept this standard.

At the same time, the studio is hearing other requests from the audience. Fans have long been asking for larger locations to be added to the game, but developing such maps requires a lot of time and resources. The team hasn't abandoned the idea but asks for patience.

The update has sparked some interest among the audience — the project's peak concurrent player count for the day rose to 92,281 players. It's still far from the astronomical numbers of Battlefield 6's launch, but the very fact that some gamers are returning is encouraging.

The second season of Battlefield 6 is now available to try on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5. The game still does not have Russian language support. Until February 25th, the Valve store is offering a 35% discount on the shooter.
