At the end of January, Square Enix announced its intention to re-release the classic Final Fantasy VII on PC. The updated version is now available on Steam and GOG.
The re-release comes with the following improvements:
- Ability to increase game speed — up to three times. The function works only in battles, exploration, and certain events.
- Ability to disable random encounters — only story-related battles will remain.
- Battle assistance mode — during fights, you can restore health and magic points, as well as fill the limit break gauge.
- Autosaves.
If you previously purchased the Steam version of FF7, your library now contains two editions: the old one (Final Fantasy VII — 2013 Edition) and the new one (simply Final Fantasy VII). Please note — save files from one version will not work in the other. It is no longer possible to purchase the 2013 Edition bundle — the enhanced version of the JRPG has replaced it in the Valve store.
