Due to the failure of "Temple of Bones," the horror film "28 Years Later 3" might be canceled altogether

The fate of the finale of the zombie trilogy "28 Years Later" is now in question. According to World of Reel citing insiders, Sony is considering the possibility of canceling or postponing the third film.

The reason is the failure of the second part, "Temple of Bones": with a budget of $63 million, its global box office revenue was only $57 million. Considering marketing costs and the theaters' share, this makes the project unprofitable.

The Netflix studio offered to buy the rights to the sequel for streaming, but director Danny Boyle insists on a full theatrical release. It is his position that has become the main obstacle to the deal.

In December, Sony announced the finale starring Cillian Murphy, but now, due to the box office failures, plans are frozen, and the conclusion of the story that began in 2002 is in question.
