Chinese World of Warcraft Servers to Add Loot Boxes Costing 1100 Rubles Each
A regional promotion for Chinese players, the "Lunar New Year Festival," will run in World of Warcraft from January 29th to February 5th. As part of the event, the in-game shop will feature Landro's Box, available for purchase with real money. Inside, with varying probabilities, lie both rare items from WoW TCG and new rewards.
The cost of one box is ¥100 (approximately 1100 rubles), with no purchase limits. To encourage spending, the developers have introduced a bonus system: for spending ¥200, ¥500, or ¥1000, a player receives an additional 2, 2, or 4 boxes respectively. Furthermore, players can form groups of up to 10 people: with combined spending of ¥500, ¥1500, or ¥3000, the team receives 1, 1, or 2 additional boxes. In the end, each participant in the promotion can acquire up to 12 free boxes.
Each box guarantees at least one item, but the most valuable trophies drop extremely rarely. Among the possible finds are impressive mounts ("Gilded Stormwind Sky Chaser," "Gilded Worldbreaker," "Reins of the Spectral Tiger," "X-51 Nether-Rocket," "X-51 Nether-Rocket X-TREME"), a fun toy ("Gilded Ring Toss"), as well as consumable items — "Toy Flame Steed" (50 pieces), "Azure Drake of the Soaring Flame" (25 pieces), and "Path of Cenarius" (50 pieces).
All obtained items become personal upon use, but they can be traded to other players. For example, "Golden Ashes of Al'ar" from last year's promotion is currently selling for ¥11000 (about 121,000 rubles).
The rewards are available in all versions of the game — both in the current World of Warcraft and in "The War Within," as well as in classic game worlds. When purchasing a box, the player independently chooses which version to send its contents to. For avid collectors wanting to gather all items across all game modes, this means significant expenses.
