Whimsical Platformer About Alien Invasion ChainStaff Launches April 8th
A trailer announcing the release date for ChainStaff.
Publisher Null Games and studio Mommy’s Best Games announced the release date for the hardcore action-platformer ChainStaff. The game will be available on PC and consoles on April 8th and will cost $14.99.
ChainStaff sends gamers into a world overrun by alien parasites that turn Earth's creatures into aggressive mutants. The main character is particularly unlucky: a cheeky alien has taken up residence in his head. In return, however, it granted him the ability to fight hordes of enemies and access to a living weapon called the ChainStaff.
The key feature of ChainStaff is the multifunctional weapon controlled by a single button. It can be thrown like a spear, plunged into the ground for defense, used as a grappling hook, and its techniques can be combined right in the heat of battle. This approach allows for quickly changing playstyles and adapting to the situation.
Throughout the journey, the player will meet other resistance fighters. Each time, a choice must be made: save an ally or take a more brutal path and use them for enhancements. These decisions influence character development and the story's ending.
The developers promise ten levels with hand-drawn landscapes, inspired by 70s-80s music album covers, as well as battles with giant bosses. Complementing it all is a heavy soundtrack by composer Deon van Heerden, who brought epic sound to the legendary Broforce and Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Teef.
You can fight the damned parasites in ChainStaff on PC (Steam), Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch. Textual Russian localization is included.
