Alan Wake Remastered Gains HDR and a Host of Improvements in Latest Patch

Without any prior announcements, developers from Remedy Entertainment have released update 1.33 for the PC version of the Alan Wake remaster. With this patch, the game has received HDR support and various improvements.

The full patch notes are as follows:

  • Gameplay:
    • Added the ability to skip the intro.
    • The sprint camera no longer activates when the Shift button is pressed while Alan is exhausted or near a wall. Previously, this sometimes prevented the protagonist from moving.
    • The camera now works correctly when Alan is on a moving object.
    • When loading from a checkpoint, the camera now correctly returns to its original position.
    • Fixed vegetation physics during wind or interaction with the hero, including at frame rates above 30 fps.
    • Weapon switching is no longer delayed.
  • Visuals:
    • Added HDR support.
    • Added a new optional camera mode that makes the game "a bit more modern."
    • Maximum frames per second increased from 200 to 240.
    • Improved DLSS technology and fixed grass transparency.
    • SDR updated to 10-bit, which in turn reduces visible color banding.
    • Improved FOV scaling.
    • Improved lens flare effect. They now appear and disappear much more smoothly.
    • Improved DX12 rendering path, reducing the likelihood of crashes and freezes.
    • Fixed polygon rendering errors and issues with visible depth buffer.
    • Brightness settings no longer affect the quality of videos shown on in-game monitors.
    • Fixed the visual distortion effect on enemies in ultrawide mode.
    • Fixed incorrect field of view and lens flare scaling in 21:9 and 4:3 modes.
    • Fixed an issue with screen resolution detection.
  • Interface:
    • Added a setting for user interface scaling.
    • Fixed numerous issues related to mouse control.
    • Fixed a bug that caused custom settings not to save.

Meanwhile, Remedy continues to work on its new flagship project, Control Resonant. The game is scheduled for release this year on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series, without Russian localization.
