Actor Jason Momoa has announced that filming for "Minecraft 2" will begin in late April 2026.
According to him, the sequel's script has significantly surpassed the first film, making the actor laugh out loud while reading it.
Jared Hess will once again serve as director and also co-wrote the screenplay with Chris Galleta.
Jason Momoa will return to the role of Garrett, also known as the Scavenger. Jack Black is expected to reprise his role as Steve.
"Minecraft 2" is scheduled for release on July 23, 2027.
The original film grossed over $958 million at the box office, becoming one of the highest-grossing projects of 2025.
