Mina the Hollower from the creators of Shovel Knight has gone gold

The long-suffering 8-bit adventure Mina the Hollower, which first started development in 2020, is finally moving toward release. Studio Yacht Club Games says the build is now being sent to platform holders; a firm date will follow once approvals are in and the team can announce it.

Mina the Hollower has officially gone GOLD! The game is complete and has begun the submissions process with our first-party partners.

The protagonist, a mouse named Mina, is saddled with a grim task: lift a curse that’s eaten at her island. Yacht Club highlights several points about the action-adventure experience:

  • A large world full of secrets, dangerous enemies, and interconnected locations.
  • A chilling yet heartfelt story inspired by Victorian horror.
  • Retro graphics in the style of Game Boy Color (GBC).
  • Modern touches — detailed animation, widescreen mode, and convenient controls.
  • The ability to dig into the ground to fight monsters and travel the world.
  • An arsenal of weapons, including a whip.
  • A set of trinkets with unusual effects.
  • Soundtrack by Jake Kaufman — composer of Shovel Knight, the Shantae series, and more.

Mina the Hollower will come to PC (Steam), PlayStation (PS), Xbox (XB), and Nintendo Switch (NSW). Russian localization is confirmed (text only — there is no voice acting in the game at all).
