A scandal has erupted around the game Hytale: players have accused support staff of forcibly taking their unique nicknames to give to famous streamers. The affected players claimed their names were taken and replaced with bland combinations like CoralShield434.
Hypixel Studio founder Simon Collins-Laflamme promptly responded, stating that such an approach violates internal rules. According to him, transferring an already taken nickname is only possible with the consent of the current owner, and names are forcibly changed solely for violations.
The content creators mentioned in the complaints, including MashClash, have stated their willingness to return the disputed names. The developer promised to personally investigate the situation, emphasizing that popular creators should not receive privileges at the expense of ordinary players.
