"Okay, but Minecraft is still better": Jeb shares his thoughts on the "killer" of his creation
The creator of Minecraft, Jens "Jeb" Bergensten, shared his first impressions of the game Hytale. In his opinion, the project looks technically polished, but at its current stage, it too strongly resembles Minecraft, which made him want to return to the original.
Bergensten noted that the game is still in development, and its uniqueness will largely depend on the modding system, which he plans to evaluate later.
The developers at Hypixel took his words as a compliment. The studio's co-founder, Simon Collins-Laflamme, called the praise for the level of execution from one of Minecraft's creators a great honor. He agreed that the game has not yet revealed its full potential, and its key features—deep world generation, adventure, and the combat system—will be revealed in future updates.
Hypixel emphasized that Hytale was never created as a direct replacement for Minecraft, and the studio's long-term plans are to develop its own unique identity.
