GTA 6 Fails Console Certification 36 Times Due to Anti-Cheat
On a Reddit forum, an insider with the username Ayershole reported that the upcoming Rockstar game GTA 6 failed certification on PS5 and Xbox Series 36 times in a row. Journalist Jason Schreier showed interest in the comment thread, and another industry-connected user revealed details.
According to him, the failures were caused by a new internal anti-cheat system for GTA 6 Online, being developed by Rockstar. It was designed to be independent of third-party solutions to reliably protect the online mode. The main issue is its behavior in the background. Even when the game is paused or in quick resume mode, the anti-cheat continues data integrity checks. This violates Sony and Microsoft's strict certification rules, which state that inactive games should not monitor anything.
Sony is actively cooperating with Rockstar to find a solution but cannot make exceptions to its rules. Microsoft, in turn, offers a more flexible approach to handling game resumption. However, Rockstar aims to ensure identical game behavior on all platforms, resulting in delays.
