Gog boss criticizes denuvo again

Michał Kiciński, co-founder of CD Projekt and owner of GOG, has confirmed that the store will remain completely DRM-free. In his statement, he called DRM a useless and harmful system that only creates problems for legitimate users without stopping piracy.

Kiciński criticized the model where a player pays the full price but essentially only rents the game. Unlike other platforms, GOG allows users to store installation files offline, guaranteeing permanent access to purchases.

As an example, he cited the story of The Witcher 2, when CD Projekt removed DRM from the game after release, leading to a lawsuit from the publisher. According to Kiciński, corporations often make "stupid decisions," ignoring the interests of players.

GOG will continue its user-focused, rather than publisher-focused, policy.
