Rumors about the release of a third expansion for The Witcher 3 are gaining new details. According to fresh information that has appeared on social media and Reddit, CD Projekt RED's plans are more modest than previously assumed.
Sources refute information about adding an entire new region to the game, such as the mysterious Zerrikania or snowy Kovir. Instead, the developers will likely focus on significantly reworking and expanding the borders of existing locations—Velen or the outskirts of Novigrad.
It is reported that, to meet production deadlines and for optimization purposes, the studio plans to actively use existing bases of models, animations, and textures. However, the main goal of the project remains unchanged—the expansion should serve as a narrative "bridge" between the ending of the third game and the events of The Witcher 4, laying the necessary lore foundation.
There is still no official information regarding an announcement or release date. Previously, insiders and journalists suggested that the expansion could be presented or even released as early as spring or summer of this year.
