Five Minutes and Gone — NVIDIA Sells Out New RTX 5090 and 5080 at MSRP in Minutes
NVIDIA restocked Founders Edition models of the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 in its European online store, but the entire batch was snapped up by buyers and bots in just a few minutes.
The flagship GeForce RTX 5090 FE appeared on the virtual shelf with a price tag of 2099 euros and disappeared exactly seven minutes later. The RTX 5080 FE for 1059 euros lasted a bit longer — its stock was depleted in 19 minutes.
This was the first major restock since the beginning of December last year, and the frenzy confirmed gamers' worst fears — NVIDIA's official store remains the only place to buy these cards without insane markups, but gamers must compete with bots and a huge number of other people wanting to get their hands on a new graphics card.
Analysts note that such "drops" will happen extremely rarely. It is currently more profitable for NVIDIA to ship chips for server solutions than to support the retail market for gaming GPUs. The few who managed to click the "Buy" button during those precious seven minutes can consider themselves owners of a rare exclusive.
