Takuro Mizobe, the head of Pocketpair (creators of Palworld), has confirmed a rather strict rule for job applicants. If a candidate has zero hours played on Steam, their resume won't even be considered. The company is looking not just for professionals, but for "hardcore PC gamers."
When applying, a candidate is required to attach screenshots of their Steam activity history. Console achievements from PS5 or Xbox are also welcome, but Steam is the absolute priority. If an applicant's number of games on Steam is zero, we move on.
During interviews, candidates are asked not just to list their favorite games, but to conduct a deep analysis of the mechanics of the titles they have the most hours in. They need to explain why the designer chose those particular systems and what makes the game stand out from its genre competitors.
