Daniel Vavra Adapting Kingdom Come: Deliverance for Film — He's Not Making Warhorse's New Game

The creator of the Kingdom Come: Deliverance franchise, Daniel Vavra, appears to have shifted his focus. He is no longer the creative director at Warhorse Studios and is not working on the studio's next game. Vavra is now focused on a feature film adaptation of KCD.

The News

Warhorse Studios has been expanding the Kingdom Come brand beyond video games for some time now. There have been comics, tourism, concerts, and now a move to the big screen (the game film at an international festival is a different thing). Warhorse Studios "senses interest from the film world" and is already in negotiations to sell the rights.

Warhorse Studios is also undergoing a reorganization with changes in top management positions. The new creative leads are design director Viktor Bokan and KCD2 lead designer Prokop Jirsa.

Plans for Warhorse's next game were officially confirmed in 2025. It is known that it will again be an "immersive RPG," and development is set to begin in 2026. There were rumors that Warhorse might try its hand at fantasy.

Meanwhile, Daniel Vavra has been actively promoting AI creativity — in film and games. Whether his preferences will be reflected in the upcoming adaptation remains to be seen.

Vavra's new position could be called a "transmedia director."

To recap, the first game Kingdom Come: Deliverance was released in 2018, and its sales exceeded 8 million copies. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 was released in February 2025 — it was purchased over 5 million times.
