The studio Kinetic Games announced that the Player Character Update for Phasmophobia will arrive on May 5. The date is the same across platforms: PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
Inside the game lobby a customization store will open. You’ll pick from 12 heroes and alter clothing, hair color, and more — lots of options straight away, with new items added over time. Cosmetics will come via regular updates and Twitch Drops; notably, viewers of Phasmophobia streams on Twitch can snag a “High Priestess” T‑shirt. The promo runs May 5–11 — to claim it, remember to link your accounts.
The update also brings new character animations. On the gameplay side, the devs plan to remove the death room and rework how you interact with the environment and your kit — changes that could alter some familiar routines. Expect some rough edges at first; patches will follow.
Reminder: earlier in 2026 Kinetic Games published a development plan for Phasmophobia. Besides this update, the roadmap mentions:
- Version 1.0 with a lot of improvements.
- A version for Nintendo Switch 2.
- Reworks of the maps 6 Tanglewood Drive and 13 Willow Street.
- A new location.
- Events.
