Bungie Promises Lifetime Bans for Cheaters in Marathon
Bungie, the studio preparing to launch Marathon, has taken an extremely tough stance on fair play. The developers have officially confirmed that any player caught using cheats will be banned permanently and without the possibility of appeal.
Unlike many other projects where temporary suspensions or "warning" bans are common practice, Marathon's policy will be extremely straightforward — one offense and access to the game is closed forever.
This severity is dictated by the very nature of the genre. In extraction shooters, the cost of defeat is very high (players can lose valuable equipment and all progress from a raid), so the appearance of even a single cheater can ruin the gaming experience for dozens of people at once.
