Borderlands 4 Receives Patch with Photo Mode and Balance Changes, Along with a Roadmap for This Year

Borderlands 4 has received an update that adds a photo mode, changes character balance, and improves the loot drop system. The developers have also presented a support plan for the game in 2026.

The new photo mode allows free camera control, depth of field adjustment, and filter application. In single-player, it pauses the action.

The balance for the heroine Harlow has been significantly changed: her active skill now automatically seeks a new target after a kill, and an old modification now enhances ground slam damage. The skills of other characters have also been adjusted.

In the high-difficulty mode, level now directly affects the chance of obtaining rare loot. Technical issues have also been fixed.

The 2026 roadmap includes:

  • February: the second paid Bounty Pack: Legend of the Stone Demon with a new mission and pearlescent rarity items.
  • March: the story expansion Story Pack 1: Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned, featuring the return of Ellie, a new cosmic horror-themed storyline, and a new playable robot, C4SH, whose abilities are based on luck.
  • Future plans: an increased maximum level, cross-platform saves, an account-wide shared progression system, a second raid boss, a Takedown-style mission, and regular limited-time events.
