"Bethesda should sell Fallout and The Elder Scrolls" — the creators of Fallout: London have sharply criticized the company

Dean Carter, head of the development team behind the large-scale Fallout: London mod, expressed a radical opinion in a recent interview that instantly spread across the internet. According to him, Bethesda Game Studios needs to admit that it can no longer keep up with the pace of the modern industry and transfer its main franchises to other studios.

The main trigger for this statement was Bethesda's incredibly long development cycles. Carter points out that decades now pass between the releases of major Fallout or The Elder Scrolls games. He emphasized that fans have been waiting for Fallout 5 for almost ten years, and even the most optimistic forecasts predict that it will be at least another 5-7 years before its release. By that time, a whole generation of players will have changed. If you can't release a game more often than once every 15 years, maybe it's time to sell the IP to those who can. These worlds are too important to fans to just gather dust on a shelf waiting for their turn.

Dean Carter is not calling for Bethesda to simply be "shut down." His idea is for Microsoft (the owner of Bethesda) to transfer the rights to create new games in the series to other talented studios (such as Obsidian, which created the cult classic New Vegas) or even allow several teams to work on the franchise in parallel.
