Donutal Announcement - An Adventure About Interrogating Aliens
Play the announcement trailer for Donutal. Studio Arc System Works, known for the GUILTY GEAR franchise, announced Donutal — an adventure game about interrogating aliens, where conversation is the main weapon. The project will see the light of day in 2026.
The plot of Donutal transports players to the year 2206. The International Space Station has been transformed into a spaceport — a gateway for aliens heading to Earth. The protagonist wakes up from cryosleep and immediately receives a dubious assignment: they are made the chief inspector for aliens. To top it off, they have a huge debt, so refusing the job is not an option.
The task sounds simple — allow peaceful visitors to pass and filter out threats. In reality, any mistake could cost the planet its future. Earth is seeking help from advanced civilizations to deal with crises that humanity failed to resolve in the 21st century. On the day the hero awakens, official diplomatic relations with other worlds begin.
【New Title Announcement】 Alien Inspection Adventure 'Donutal' Coming to Steam in 2026! 🪐 You awaken from a 150-year cryosleep to perform "planet entry screenings" for the diverse aliens coming to Earth... 👽 ✅ A playable demo is also available starting today! #Donutal pic.twitter.com/2E24TapK9Z
The gameplay revolves around inspecting groups of aliens. Up to eight creatures can be examined at a time, analyzing their data and looking for inconsistencies. Two can be called into the interrogation room — their dialogue can reveal hidden motives. There are no papers or formalities: you need to listen carefully, notice who the interlocutors are protecting and where they get confused.
Relationships between characters influence the answers. Allies, rivals, or representatives of warring species behave differently depending on the company. The outcomes of inspections change the course of the story. The fate of Earth directly depends on the player's decisions.
An android named DOLPHIN will assist with the inspections. It conducts briefings and supports the inspector but does not make final decisions.
Among the visitors, you will encounter Martians who cannot lie, technologically advanced Pictor, mysterious Octo with internal conflicts within their species, and many other strange beings. Some come for tourism or seek refuge, while others conceal far more dangerous goals.
Only PC players on Steam will be able to decide the fate of alien beings and shout "WE WILL ASK THE QUESTIONS!" in Donutal. Russian localization has not been announced yet, but a demo version is available.
