American McGee Returns to the Gaming Industry with a New "Wonderland" Project
In the spring of 2023, renowned game designer American McGee left the gaming industry due to disappointment caused by Electronic Arts' refusal to entrust him with the development of Alice: Asylum. Despite this, a couple of years later, the creator decided to return to the fold with a new "Wonderland" project. And before fans of "Alice" start popping champagne in celebration, we hasten to warn that the future game is based on Plushie Dreadfuls — McGee's own brand of plush toys, whose key feature is cute animals embodying emotions and mental disorders. One of the toys, of course, references Alice herself.
Details about the future game are scarce. It is only known that McGee already has a development team that is currently working on a demo version. It can also be assumed that the title will offer platforming elements, as the world design features predominantly floating islands:
The game adaptation of Plushie Dreadfuls will make extensive use of the "floating islands" concept, as it is one of my favorite motifs. What started as a technique used by early 3D game developers to create more impressive visual effects with relatively low processing costs perfectly conveys the idea of a shattered mental landscape.
And I just finished writing the introduction, which perfectly connects the narrative world of Madness Returns with the beginning of the story of its spiritual successor, Plushie Dreadfuls. This is done in a way that avoids legal copyright issues while still pleasing fans of the Alice games. Long live floating islands!

There is no release date for the demo yet. Separately, McGee thanked his fans in Japan for his return, who actively supported him and shared their creative works based on "Alice."
