New PlayStation Portal Version with OLED Screen Could Launch by the End of 2026
The portable PlayStation Portal will receive a version with an OLED screen, according to hardware insider Kepler_L2. Rumors about a new model of the device have been circulating for some time (some even suggest the new device will support PSSR upscaling), but there have been no official announcements yet.
Kepler_L2 commented on the new PS Portal model during a discussion about the capabilities of Panther Lake — a new Intel chip that could become the basis for many future "portables." However, Sony has managed to achieve success in this field with its streaming device (and since last fall, with cloud gaming). This is precisely why a new version of the PS Portal is in development.
According to the insider, the new device... As for a full-fledged portable PlayStation console, there are allegedly two devices. The first relates to the current generation and will be able to run PS5 games. The second will become a "budget" version of the stationary PS6 — a low-power console in the spirit of the Xbox Series S, but in a pocket-sized form factor. Kepler_L2 stated that one of the models will be based on RDNA5, but without specifics.
