Masters of Albion Developer Criticized Cozy Games, Calling Them Boring
Media Molecule co-founder Mark Healey, who brought the world Sackboy and LittleBigPlanet, admitted that he can’t stand cozy games.
In an interview with The Game Business, he explained: he understands the trend toward "cosy games" during the pandemic, but personally finds such projects unbearably boring.
“It’s much better when you add a bit of extreme violence for balance,” Healey said, commenting on his new game Masters of Albion, where he works under the legendary Peter Molyneux.
Masters of Albion is being created with the formula “cozy by day — chaos by night,” combining mechanics from Dungeon Keeper, Black & White, and Fable.
The project also involves Russell Shaw, another Lionhead veteran who couldn’t resist a "nostalgia trip" for fans of Molyneux’s old games.
The release is scheduled for April 22 on PC.
