Wielders of the Essence Demo Released on Steam – An Incremental Survivor from Lavapotion
A demo for the game Wielders of the Essence has become available on Steam. It's a minimalist incremental survivor from the studio Lavapotion, which gained recognition for the turn-based tactics/RPG Songs of Conquest. The project has already garnered positive feedback from users on the platform.
A key feature of the game is short runs with persistent progression between them. Unlike typical representatives of the genre, the expeditions here are noticeably shorter, making the gameplay more dynamic and allowing players to see the results of their actions faster.
Players take on the role of a Magister – a spellcaster who embarks on chaotic runs, battles enemies, collects resources, and returns to town to build. Death in the game is inevitable and frequent, but each run yields loot that pushes the player forward and helps develop the settlement.
Town development is a key part of the progression. Collected resources are spent on constructing buildings, and each new structure unlocks additional possibilities: a new Magister, a troop unit, a spell, or a skill. Gradually, the settlement grows from a wasteland into a full-fledged developed location, and the Magister becomes more powerful with each run.
The game features:
- Over 10 buildings
- 9 unique Magisters
- 8 troop units with various abilities
- 9 spells
- 42 trinkets
- 15 upgradable skills
Each run takes place on a randomly generated adventure map. It contains equipment shops, chests with trinkets, and events with mini-bosses. At the end of each level, the player faces a final boss battle. The demo offers 5 unique maps, allowing players to appreciate the variety of locations and the challenge of the trials.
