YouTube Begins Blocking Comments for Those Using Ad Blockers
YouTube has intensified its crackdown on ad blockers. Now, users of such extensions may lose access to comments and video descriptions — a message about disabled features appears in their place.
Ordinary viewers were the first to notice the issue, with dozens of complaints flooding social media. AndroidAuthority confirmed the connection between ad blockers and the malfunctions. There are no exceptions, not even for YouTube Premium subscribers. Disable the extension, and the functionality returns.
It's most challenging for users of browsers with built-in protection like Brave, where disabling the ad blocker without switching browsers is impossible.
Previously, YouTube had already restricted background playback in mobile browsers.
