Developers of the ambitious RPG action game Dragon Sword revealed details about the upcoming game
The studio HOUND13, together with the publisher Webzen, announced the official launch of the open-world RPG action game Dragon Sword. The game will be released in South Korea on January 21, 2026. Its key advantage is the successful combination of vibrant anime-style graphics and a well-developed combat system based on combo mechanics.
The game’s story unfolds on the continent of Orbis, where the player is to join a mercenary squad led by Johnny. The heroes’ path goes through a mysterious open world full of dangers, puzzles, and fierce battles.
The developers emphasize that the final version of the project is the result of painstaking work on fixing mistakes. Based on tester feedback, the team focused on careful content polishing and optimization, prioritizing service stability after release.
The gameplay is based on the concept of a high degree of freedom. In addition to the main storyline, players can explore the world, complete side quests, hunt, and gather resources. The main feature of Dragon Sword is team combo action. Skillful combination of status effects, timely character switching, and precise combo hits allow continuous dynamic attack sequences, making even the most formidable bosses vulnerable.
To attract a wide audience, the developers chose an art style based on cel-shading, which lowers the entry barrier to the game. Special attention is given to storytelling: the main plot received full professional voice acting featuring well-known actors, significantly enhancing immersion in the story.
During beta testing, the team received many positive reviews about the combat system and visual design. At the same time, problem areas were identified that required serious improvements. In particular, memory management was significantly improved, frame rate stabilized, and rendering performance enhanced, thereby solving device overheating issues.
The storyline was also revised: the developers removed excessive humorous inserts, refined character portrayals, and added personal quests revealing their backstories. For player convenience, the hint system was reworked — now players can get reference information about key mechanics at any moment. In addition, the “Ann’s Commission” quest chain was introduced, helping players gradually master game systems as new content is unlocked.
To avoid monotony when exploring the world, the developers placed key landmarks in each zone — windmills, goddess statues, dungeons. They serve as navigational points and objectives for players. The space between them is filled with diverse elements: treasure maps, excavation sites, regional orders. This makes the exploration process engaging and rich.
At launch, players will have access to five chapters of the main story and the ability to level up characters to level 60. Beyond that, there is rich side content including “Hero Commissions” and “Clan Commissions.” For farming stages, a Boost feature is available: by spending twice the action points, players receive double rewards, significantly reducing time spent on routine tasks.
The game will be released simultaneously on PC and mobile devices. The combat system, inherited from Hundred Soul, was initially designed with mobile controls in mind. The developers paid special attention to enabling complex skill combos to be performed intuitively on smartphones while maintaining control precision in both melee and ranged combat.
The project’s business model is based on a gacha (summoning) system for acquiring characters. At the same time, the developers do not plan to sell items that could affect game balance.
After release, the studio intends to release updates approximately every four weeks. The first update will unlock chapters 6–8 of the main storyline and the Northern region. Future plans include adding a second raid, new zones, and competitive content.
