"We won't mock the players": Borderlands 4 developers don't plan to nerf guns

The developers of Borderlands 4 are preparing a major update that will focus on adding new gear, not weakening existing gear. This was announced by Deputy Creative Director Grant Kao.

"Right now we are avoiding nerfs," wrote Kao. "We are expanding the gear pool and don't want to devalue the time players have spent farming."

A key change will be the legendary shotgun The Bod. Instead of weakening it, the developers will make it more accessible by moving it into the main drop pool. The update will also increase the chances of target gear dropping on higher difficulty levels, making farming more predictable.

The changes will be released at the end of January.
