Virtus.pro Returns to Free Fire with a New Roster
The Virtus.pro club has announced the signing of a Brazilian roster for the mobile battle royale Garena Free Fire. The organization previously left the discipline in 2025.
In social media posts, VP representatives stated:
"Brazil remains one of the strongest countries on the global stage: at the major 2025 events, the Esports World Cup and the Free Fire World Series: Global Finals 2025, Brazilians had the second-highest national representation."
The team includes:
- Kauan "Cauan7" Santos da Silva (IGL)
- Luan "lost21" César de Souza Vieira (1st rusher)
- João "O MALA" Pedro Bortolo Oliveira (2nd rusher)
- Renan "nikeboy" dos Santos Thomas (support)
- Elton "Shotzzrx" Ferreira Cabral Neto (5th player)
- Marcos "Frois" Vinicius Rosa Frois (coach)
- Luis "K9" Alberto Rabelo Ortins (analyst)
- Lucas "Luke" Gabriel de Andrade Rego e Silva (manager)
The club has joined the game developer's official partner program and will compete in C.O.P.A. Free Fire 2026, which will be held online from February 1st to 23rd with a prize pool of approximately $20,000. The organization aims to participate in the year's largest events, including the Esports World Cup 2026, where Free Fire will once again be one of the disciplines.
It is worth recalling that before signing the current Brazilian roster, Virtus.pro had already competed in Free Fire events twice with other players. The first roster (CIS region) competed in 2022.
- Reason for leaving: The club left the discipline in October 2022 not due to results, but due to the publisher's (Garena) policy, which did not allow teams from the CIS region to participate in major international tournaments, such as the World Series 2022 Bangkok. In a statement, the club noted that maintaining a roster became impractical without the ability to compete at the highest level. Thus, the results of the previous rosters were mixed, but the organization twice encountered external factors affecting long-term development in this discipline.
The second roster was signed on May 14, 2025.
- Key achievements: The team successfully qualified for the Esports World Cup 2025. At the tournament itself, held in August 2025, the team placed 16th.
- Results at other tournaments: There were also results at regional tournaments, for example, 3rd place at Free Fire World Series — Southeast Asia 2025 Fall: Clash Squad in October 2025.
- Reason for disbanding: The roster was disbanded on September 6, 2025, after its performance at the Esports World Cup. Although the team completed its main task — qualifying for the Esports World Cup 2025 (EWC 2025) — the 16th place finish there was not outstanding, and after assessing the overall state of the scene, the club decided to exit the discipline.
