Umbral 2.0 — the world of the dead radically revamped in Lords of the Fallen 2
Publisher CI Games and Hexworks have just put out a new gameplay trailer for Lords of the Fallen II — the follow-up to the 2023 title — and the clip sticks squarely to one thing: the dual-world system. The devs push the idea that Umbral is no longer a mere "shadow copy" of the living realm; instead it behaves like an autonomous, nightmarish plane that can press back against the world of flesh.
The studio says the project runs on Unreal Engine 5 (UE5) and is due in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (via Epic Games Store, aka EGS). CI Games appears to be betting heavily here, trying to correct past missteps — for example, the removal of the Russian language — and to deliver what they’ve dubbed "the most aggressive Souls-like" on the market. Some players will cheer the promise; others might wait to see if the changes actually land.
