Ubisoft has indeed made cuts in Abu Dhabi, but the MMO Growtopia is safe Following complaints from employees on LinkedIn, Ubisoft confirmed to GameIndustry.biz that it had laid off 29 people in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE, back in November 2025. The studio was opened in 2011 and served as a regional hub.
Since 2017, the team has been supporting the freemium MMO Growtopia and will focus on it after the cancellation of several projects. Ubisoft Abu Dhabi also worked on mobile games under the CSI license.
In November, Ubisoft made the difficult decision to restructure its mobile studio in Abu Dhabi, suspending some projects to focus on Growtopia. As a result of this change, 29 team members were affected. We remain deeply grateful to them for their contributions and are supporting them throughout the transition period.
